This was actually a recommendation in a record shop. I asked him for records similar to old Genesis, Yes and Camel's Mirage that are not too expensive, he thought a while and then drew this out of the shelve.
I gave it a listen and was instantly blown away. Exactly my taste!
Just like one wants it. You go into a record store with no expectations, get a recommendation and leave it with a huge grin on Your face. :)
Oh, and what an amazingly stunning Cover Art! Wow!
Yeah, I read about this band a while back and just thought of them as just another Krautrock band, but when I gave them a chance, I don't regret doing so, especially that last song "Atlantis Agony....Gregorian Earthtime," it finishes the album off very well.
I once contemplated on customizing a back patch based on that album, but I was way to new to the band. Most of their albums are just flawless.
If you enjoyed "Ocean, I would recommend you give "Dawn," "Silent Cries," and "Colours" a shot. Cool fact, the drummer who played in those 4 albums, was also a member of the Scorpions.
I am really, really looking forward to listen to this on my home stereo. I also searched for a high quality Digital Version on the net and put it on my mp3 player.
Do you know Camel's Mirage
Woah, man.... i'd say do it! First it is an awesome design, second not everybody especially in the metal community has it. But i can understand Your hesitation. When i am new to bands i also tend to be careful with things like these.
Thanks for the hints. The shop owner's favorite was "inside". I am definitely looking extremely forward to explore this band!
Really? That's cool!!
It's actually a really, really special record to me and for me one of the best of this Genre! I have a realy special connection to this one.
Nice avatar.
Nice, I know where you are coming from. It's how I feel about the album on icon too. Doremi and Space ritual took a huge important role in my musical influences.
Since you said you are looking for bands that are like Yes, Genesis, and Camel, I would definitely recommend you the album "Godbluff" by Van Der Graaf Generator and "A tab in the ocean" by Nektar. They are pretty pretty darn amazing and they both formed in late 60's and early 70's. I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed. :D
I guess my favorite Hawkwind would be Warrior on the Edge of time, for The golden Void alone! Doremi is also plain amazing, Down through the night would be my favorite on this one. Just breathtaking!
Thanks alot! Both bands (especially Nektar of course since they are my countrymen) are on the "To listen" list for a long, long time already. Now i will definitely accelarate this plan!
My recommendation for You would be Far Out, do You know them?
Warrior on the edge of time is a great album. I like the artwork a lot.
Dude, I just checked out their album. The voice is just GNARLY. "Too many people" is just flawless. I still need to listen to their bonus stuff though.
I love Nektar, they are like Eloy both Prog bands from Germany. Anytime man!
Hahaha, yeah he has a very special voice. But their albums is such a freaking MASTERPIECE! It is music from beyond this earthly sphere, really . A guy on a record bazar once recommended them to me with the words "If You love Hawkwind, listen to this. Just take it home and if You like it give me the money next day. If not, just bring it back". I just fell to my knees when i first heard this.
Another very interesting Band from Japan, though different in style but a bit similar in the vocals, is the Flower Travellin' Band. Really, really weird but amazing stuff from the 70s! : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxB55yaWG-I
Yeah, I thought of Pink Floy right away when once the song started. They have a unique sound. I need to find a record store somewhere around my area. The one I go to doesn't have these albums, as for vynils, I need to start my collection too. lol
I'm definitely going to check out Flower traveling band. I might of heard of it once but now that you mention it, it will be another band worth checking out.
I also noticed that you got Eloy's Silent Cries album. That's a really good album.
I just listened to Flower Travelling band's Satori album, and...WOW DUDE, very gnarly sound. I can see where Acid Mother's Temple (another Japanese 90's Psychedelic Rock band in case you're wondering) get their influences from. Haha
Hearing these albums, the Japanese have very unique styles. I mean the album, Satori give off that sound that will remind anyone of Black Sabbath, only heavier.
Would love to see how farther you get with these collections. Lots of great bands out there. ha
Hahaha man, either "Gnarly" is among Your favorite words or it is just me who is constantly recommending You gnarly stuff, haha!
I never tried A.M.T. , but always wanted to. Now i have a motivation, thanks!
Exactly! Black Sabbath, only heavier and with some very special ingredients i would say. Apart from their heaviness they do still sound exotic.
Indeed! So much to discover!
You should also try the band FULL MOON. Though from '89, their selftitled album fits perfectly in this conversation we started here. Extremely influenced by Hawkwind and the likes, this is a real unique album full of magick and wonder! (And the Drumming ist just amazing) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR6U9z8CifA
No dude, it's just that there's a lot of Prog bands that are THAT good. Best of all, nearly all of them havetotally different sounds, you never get bored of them.
Very few bands don't appeal to me but a lot more do.
I just took a look at Full moon and they sound pretty badass. For a band that formed in 1989, I get that Nwbhm feel, with a pint of Hawkwind lol.
I don't know how much you dig Prog music in general, but if you can handle weird bands, I would recommend these guys.

It's just an absolutely unique album, nothings sounds like this. And i just love that elegiac, yearning
vocalist, together with that Japanese accent.
Yeah, the Eloy Collection is growing, that came very fast, hahaha
And it was onkly 5€ which made the decision easy.
Please do, let me know how You liked it!
