Dødheimsgard - Monumental Possession vinyl LP.

FINALLY! In my possession is Dodheimsgard’s ‘Monumental Possession’! This had been a long, long, painfully looooong time coming. I had been after this record for many years but it was always too expensive, but I got a good deal on this one!

This is a criminally underrated band, and album. With it’s demonic atmosphere, insane vocals (not just done by one person), and borderline thrashy riffs… this is one hell of a fucking masterpiece, and also a very unique album.

This second full-length from the band kind of distances itself from the harshly cold, and “uninviting” sound of the first album. It mainly focuses on faster and stranger riffs. While I prefer the vocal approach that Aldrahn had in Kronet Til Konge (poetic, spoken harshly but not typical BM screaming vocals. You could understand what he was saying…), I think he does a great job here as well. This is the kind of progression that black metal needs. Bands like this that are not hesitant to try and experiment with different sounds, while still retaining the essential black metal core. Bands that DON’T repeat albums.

Thank you Malicious Records, we miss you… please come back.

Aldrahn does the vocals for tracks 3, 5, and 7.
Vicotnik does vocals for tracks 2, 6, and 8.
And….
Apollyon does vocals for 4 and 9.

Interesting fact - this was mastered by Garm.

The sword is grinded…

ANGEL DEATH!!!!!!

Haha, I couldn't help it! I had to have this.

And yes, Malicious Records was just fantastic. I mean hell, they released my favorite album of all time... Under the Sign of Hell. I will owe them (or him, rather... I think it was a one man label) that for eternity. I couldn't be more grateful to this record label.

Malicious Records, Deathlike Silence Productions, Moonfog... I miss all of them. Most historic record labels ever!

Thanks for the flames my friend. This is indeed a good one. The fact that you are the only one to give a shit about this post so far speaks volumes for how underrated this band is.

You would think they would be more known, they did have Fenriz for a short amount of time. Not to mention the vocalist did that one painfully short EP with Zyklon-B.

God damn I'd give my left nut for that to have been a full-length! That is probably the most misanthropic piece of black metal to have ever graced the pitiful species of mankind.

not sure if I agree with you guys, there was another track made a remix and that was a huge disappointment to say the least. but blood must be shed is fucking great!

Yeah that remixed track sucked. But hey, since it wasn't in the original release I never actually listen to it. It's the last track so I just stop then and there.

Terroristic-Hammerings's picture

same here! still the other 3 tracks are definitely BM classics!

I don't have a clue as to why Blood Must Be Shed was not a full-length, or why they didn't follow it up with anything. That would have been huge though. I'd kill for that!

Seriously, some of the most hateful BM ever. I've been looking for one of their "The Modern Man" shirts for ages, almost got one of them one time, I don't remember what happened, I think I was short on money.

Fuck yeah dude, it's one of the worst feelings when that happens. It blows but it's ohh so true. That happens to me entirely too often.

That's awesome man! Congrats!

Is the shirt also an old shirt or what? Regardless I'm sure it's very cool.

I have one Malicious Records catalog flyer. It came with my Gorgoroth "Antichrist" LP. It's definitely not a poster though, haha. Just a tiny insert.

Cool dude, I'm glad it's rare. I'll be sure to check it out once you post it up, if you're going to.

Haha, yeah I wish time machines were real. I could go back in time and get myself all the rare records I desire for practically nothing :\

Cool! I have an extra poster of this album if you are interested in it.

Thanks for the heads up man, but unfortunately I am flat-broke right now. I mean I don't even have 7 dollars in my bank account.

Thanks a lot!

Yes, Kronet Til Konge was released on LP in three different first presses. Regular black, red, and I think clear vinyl. All by Malicious Records.

I have the red edition (luckily my favorite of the three), you can see it if you'd like in two of my old posts here on this site. It's at the end of "my vinyl collection" and in the beginning of "my vinyl collection. Part II."
