That's a one cool combo! And a nicely tied sageo on the saya ;)

BTW: Your wakizashi wouldn't happen to be a Japanese original, would it? Got any info on it? Like what steel is the blade made of and so on?

Thanx!
Actually it's a pretty cheap wall-hanger from a nearby souvenier shop, I guess it's Chinese :) (but not sure, it was gifted to me). But it looks cool. Saya is woden with the dragon really carved out. No idea about the steel - the blade is not even sharpened and I don't wanna risk trying to test it:). Sageo seems to be synthetic, I'm thinking of changing it for natural one.

Oh, at first I didn't notice that dragon on the saya. That is a dead giveaway for the Chinese made ones. I was too fixated on the handle, I think. Which kind of seemed like it was China made, but I didn't want to sound negative right of the bat.

Most of these are intended to be just that - a decoration. For which I believe they are most certainly suitable. In combination with this "dreaded" CD, it actually looks really good.
A friend of mine had a decorative sword which was purposefully blunted in case somebody tries to grab it and swing it around. It was in a bar, so...

Judging by the suba, you are better off not trying to sharpen it. You're perfectly right about not risking it. It would ruin the finish and expose the cheap Chinese (probably) pot metal, or whatever the blade is made of.

Good idea. If you decide to redo the sageo, I'd recommend going with a more common three or even four wraparounds on each side insted of two, as there are now. They surely tried to save money by using less material.

And TBH, I really like your idea of building on topic of the records/posters and adding items that somehow relate to it. Same goes for your RW installation. They both remind me of merch frames somebody else makes, but in their own way (https://tshirtslayer.com/user/ozrock77).
Keep at it!

It's pretty heavy, I think it might be steel, but not the strongest one. "three or even four wraparounds" - that's exactly how I wanted it to do:). Is the dragon a bad thing? I really like how it looks:) Too bad I can't find a catana to match the daisio. I also have a katana fron an other set - saya is aluminium, covered with plastic (but looks good, like leather), sageo is longer, with 3 wraparounds, but synthetic too, also menuki are builded into the handle (I painted them bronze to stand out more. That one loks a bit cheaper then this wakizashi, but I still like it a lot.
You're right, they're decorative, ut that's exactly what I use them for, so they work, I guess:)
Thanx for this and Running. I think I'll do smething else like this.) Also it's a vinyl, not CD:)

That was my bad, sorry. My head has that record somehow memorized primarily in form of a CD.

The blade will probably be something like 420 stainless steel if you are lucky. My guess would be something cheaper with lower hardness, since it wasn't meant to cut anything or withstand any use at all.

Dragons are cool! They are awesome and scary manmade creatures, don't take me wrong. It's just this particular use of that motive is known to be used on sheats for "not battle ready" swords. That's all.

Synthetic materials last longer without almost any need of care, but natural ones look better with just a tad bit of it, thus you might be right about changing it. Though it still begs a question, if it's really needed in this kind of decorative purpose.

No problem, man, I enjoy finding creative things, so it's only natural to give a compliment.
Stay true!
