Autopsy - Severed Survival (1990 Pressing) vinyl LP.

Originally released in 1989, this is the second press (1990) vinyl of my favorite death metal album, Severed Survival!

The first 1989 pressing is on it's way too, I love this album so much that I had to have both pressings. Still, out of the two, this is my favorite pressing... so fuuuuuuuck yeah! I'm glad this is finally here.

I told myself I was going to take a break from buying LPs, but damn it this is just too addicting!

Not for sale or trade

It sure is!

My favorite thing about this album is the putrid sound of that bass. Damn, it fits death metal perfectly.

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

You are 100% correct.

They mixed it in perfectly, and not to mention how good Steve DiGiorgio is. That guy was a beast!

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

Yeah dude I just got it today, I was pretty excited to say the least. It sounds absolutely flawless.

Thanks for the support as always. Keep it METAAAAAAAAAAL!!!

Well... not much, most likely (but you know, the postal service is always unpredictable).

Here's the story:

I was shopping in Discogs. I bought this album from a shop that uses Discogs, and I got myself that Master self-titled LP I told you about as well (although from another user). The shop that I purchased this LP from shipped this quickly, and the NEXT DAY after shipping the same shop that put this LP for sale put the first pressing for sale. I could have saved money on shipping, but ohh well. The point is, they shipped like two days apart. So, I figure I don't have to wait much.

There is no mail tomorrow though, and none on Monday either (because it is President's Day over here). So, I would say sometime between Tuesday through Thursday I should receive the first press. But not to worry, as soon as I get it I'll post some pictures up.

I personally MUCH prefer it over eBay. In fact, it is my favorite place to shop (I have yet to run into a dishonest seller). I dislike the bidding system, as you can end up either in a great position having won and having to pay a good price, or severely ripped off and having won and having to pay a huge sum. Not to mention that when an item is in auction, you have to wait a bunch of days for it to end, and I don't know about you but I am not very patient when it comes to these things. Sure, they also have the "buy it now" option for some items, but A LOT of the time people want to rip you off anyway and put a huge price on things.

I find that since Discogs doesn't have that huge of a following, it also does not have the reputation of greed.

Now, aside from this... it is like eBay in the sense that it can be independent sellers, placing albums for sale directly from their collection, or shops that place themselves in Discogs to sell to a wider mass of people. You can also place better descriptions on the specific album you are selling. Basically, they tell you the condition it's in, and then describe why it's in that condition. Some people offer pictures upon request, but most don't.

I've also noticed that although like you said there are mistakes in some entries, most people there seem to know their stuff better than on eBay. I don't know if this answers your questions, so let me know if you want to know anything else.

I guess all I can say is that it's worth trying out. Shite, this is a long comment, haha.

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

Don't get me wrong either dude, I do use eBay every once in a while. But I guess what I am trying to say is that although there are rip offs and greedy people everywhere, I think they are much easier to pinpoint on Discogs than they are on eBay.

The greedy people stick out on Discogs like sore thumbs there, with huge asking prices... it's ridiculous.

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

I don't think you'll be disappointed ;)

By the way, if you are ever in doubt of how much an album is worth, you can always try popsike.com

There you can look for a specific record, and it will show you some winning bids off eBay. It's useful, and it even tells you the percentages of highest price, lowest price, and the average.

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

Really? They make you get an account just for that!? That's stupid.

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

Sure thing man, glad I could help! \\m//

Dude, every time I see ", but fuck them", I think: "Butt-fuck them". Hahaha, I laugh every time.

But fuck yes, discogs is awesome. I've only made a few orders, but I am already extremely fond of discogs.

Great record, though I'm more fond of the first pressing.
Haven't bought on discogs myself, but use it as a reference for prices a lot. Most of the stuff on there seems to be overpriced though.

Thanks man, it is a great album. That's for sure.

I personally don't feel most Discogs stuff is overpriced, but ehhh... we all have our way of looking at it. I don't know if you have an account there or not, but once you do you can add a wantlist with specific pressings of the albums that you want. Once you do this, it will alert you when one or more of those albums are up for sale. Then it becomes easier to compare them and their prices according to their condition grading. Not to mention the fact that you don't have to hunt them down one by one all over the internet. I for one love that.

Anyway, thanks for the support. \\m//

I did man, it says it in the description. I bought the original 1989 first press too, it just hasn't gotten here yet.

Anyway, thanks.

Great!! :D this one has much better album cover!

Thanks! I definitely agree, I've always loved this artwork and have always preferred this one over the original.

So much actually that I have thought about getting it tattooed. I don't think I'm going to get it though, because 99% of my tattoos are black ink. It really wouldn't fit in, and to make it black and white would be a crime considering how awesome it is.

NekroDesekrator666's picture

If u don't have any tattoos in ur back i think this would look good there :D and this artwork is like one of the best ever!

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

Yeah man, that actually doesn't sound like a bad idea...

I think I'll get it after all. I feel like a total retard for not having thought about this before, haha.

NekroDesekrator666's picture

Haha :D But hey, if you are going to get it, post some pics of it!

LaUlvenDrepe's picture

Ohh of course! No need to worry about that, I was planning on doing so.
