I have the feeling maybe he first heard it/learned it as Seltic and that's why he keeps "accidentally" saying it that way lol. I'm the same way, I prefer saying Keltic, as it sounds better, but the first time I heard it used was for the Boston Celtics so I tend to accidentally say "Seltic"
Haha, same with me!^^ I heard a J.B.O. song long before I learnt english and they pronounced it "seltic" :D ...never trust bavarians when it comes to pronounciation!^^ Nevertheless I prefer the sound of "seltic" rather than "keltic"!
Martin (co)-owns a couple of clubs in Zurich (Mascotte, Kinsky) and a DVD-shop (Laserzone). Tom was kind of H.R. Giger's personal assistant until his death, not sure what he does now but is still in Tryptikon. There was talk about a reunion for a while...apparently Wacken wanted to get Martin & Tom back together but they declined (http://www.metal-hammer.de/celtic-frost-sagen-reunion-am-wacken-open-air...)
Keltic. if anyone says 'seltic' I always think of the football club, whereas I also think that the clubname derives from a misunderstanding...the bronze/iron age peoples after all, are supposed to be the Kelts (Keltoi in Greek as per Vectrex above). On the other hand, talking about other ancient stuff, in e.g. the Scythians and Thucydides the 'c' is pronounced as an 's' - but as far as I'm aware only in English...in German you'd say die 'Skythen' or 'Thukydides' (so do the Greeks)...and let's leave out the Isles of Scilly I suppose
I vaguely remember an interview or something with Celtic Frost where the interviewer/presenter/whoever said something like "this is Seltic Frost" and the band didn't correct him...it didn't seem at all unusual at the time...I also once met Martin Stricker whom I didn't recognise (he now [co-]owns several businesses & clubs in Zurich) and he let drop that he used to play bass in Keltic Frost
As you say, historically it is Kĕl′tĭk, from what I recall at school, referring to the Gauls that came over from France to the Scottish Highlands, Wales, Ireland and Brittany. So is it from the Latin "Celtae" for the pucky Gaelic hordes battling the Romans and the language of the Kelts or is it Seltic honouring a basketball team?
Guess it depends where you live.
Keltic. I asked my English teacher ages ago. His reply was that usually seltic would be used for the football club but usually it wouldbe pronounced with a "k".

most would say seltic, yet i heard the band themselves say it as keltic.

I've also seen interviews where Tom G Warrior pronounces it with a soft C. Seems like they can't make up their mind either.

It is keltic.
The word comes from the latin word Celtae/ Galli. In Greek it is "Keltoi" or " Galatai".

It is Keltic, like andermatten said, Seltic makes me think of the football club.
But yeah fact, the word "Celtic" IS pronounced Keltic, as the the band, I'd assume the call themselves Keltic Frost as well.
