Man how hard is it to start a band? For me all my friends kept flaking out so I decided It would just be me and my bro... We handle everything from instruments lyrics even art and logo. At least I know I can count on him.

That's pretty much how it is for me too, I've been forging on alone for a few years now because every drummer and bassist I've met has been a flake; so I handle everything.

However I'm starting to improve a lot and I think my new EP I've almost finished will be pretty cool.

Learning about how all the music world works is certain tough shit all alone. I recorded a non-serious demo in 2009, then things got serious. I was trying to use a simple drum machine, but decided for genuine drums with the one-mic-in-a-room sound in my depressive black metal band. So, hardly being able to play drums at all, I just recorded my own drum samples from someone else's set and stitched them together in audacity so it just sounds like I can play. But yeah, figuring out legalities and manufacturing details is a pain in my neck. But I'm getting better at drums though. EVERY FUCKIN time I play though I get a blister on my right ring finger from blasting wrong, so I put tape right there, so the tape gets the blister and not me hehe.

Used to be in a band, then the other members started to get into faggot deathcore and didn't wanna play Metal anymore....

needless to say, I told them to go fuck themselves and choke on their deathcore. That band still has no vocalist now xD

Some friends of mine play instruments (pretty well, afaik) but none of them wants to be in a Death Metal band...
One of them will be like "Thrash rules (which it does), I don't need Death", another one doesn't really like Death and so my plans are rather hopeless.

But anyway, I'll continue looking for some guys.

Exactly! Though where I come from it's very, very hard to find musicians that are into Thrash. Usualy when I find a guitarist, I ask him if he's interested in playing in a Exodus-Destruction-Razor- influenced Thrash band, then they turn the offer down :( FUCK THEM!

Ugggh I'm a female thrash vocalist and I write lyrics, and I would kill to finally have a band, but most of the guys just laugh. Funny I can sing better than any of them, haha. Most people here are into screamo and rap, and aren't interested in metal in the least. :(

Those dudes sound like they are just dipshits. I've seen lots of bands that have good female vocalists, guitarists, bassplayers, drummers. Like the guitarist for Hemorrhage, the bassist for Equilibrium, the drummer for Blackguard. I saw Blackguard play live once and I was like WHOA!

Actually the real metal friends I have are totally supportive, it's just that they're already in bands or aren't interested at all. Everyone else is into stuff I wouldn't even call music. It's the rock and punk guys I know who are against female singers, god knows why.

ok you know what i think i just had a good idea. since it seems like all of us here are solo musicians, why dont we combine our metal might? for example, this dude on youtube saw my songs and thought they were bad ass so he offered to make drum tracks for them (im a solo guitarist/singer and i made those songs with a drum machine and no bass). now since he lives in california and i in texas, we'll probably never meet, but it's still a good way for us both to get our talent out there, cause like i said before i play to record a demo with this dude. anyway i think all parties involved benefit and its kinda like how the underground bands in the 80s all helped each other out and made compilation albums. what do you guys think?

That's kind of a cool idea, I'd be up for something like that. Another idea would be to promote each other's stuff with merchandise, passing out demos, etc. It's a real cool idea the more I think about it.

I just barely changed my band name to avoid confusion with another band. So as of now the name is Lethal Energy.

I don't have a youtube page. I used to have a myspace but I got frustrated with how slow everything loads there so I removed the account. I just finished up on my latest demo/ep so I was going to post it on last.fm in the next couple of days (besides the cover song which I only have rights to distribute through cd.)

What's another good site? I was thinking of opening an account with ReverbNation as well.

oh crap i wanted to do a cover song on my demo as well...how did you get the rights to have a cover on cd, or do you kinda just have that right inherently? also i really think you should make a youtube page. i started off doing a bunch of covers, then those got a lot of views, that made people be interested in my own original work and thus my songs got a pretty decent amount of attention and i almost have like a small (really small) following haha. and yeah reverbnation is pretty good i guess; i made an account for there. i made one for last.fm but no one is listening to my songs :/

Here's what happened with me and the cover I recorded: I contacted the publisher and made a request for a mechanical license for 100 cd copies. They told me they can't grant me a license for that small of a pressing, but copyright laws allow me to do it without a license, provided I let them know and send them the small fee of 9.1 cents per song per cd. So I mailed them a check for $9.10, and now I can include that song on 100 cd copies.

I did used to have a youtube, might reopen it and post some stuff and I'll also make a reverbnation.

i play in 3 bands lol
lead guitar and vocals @ nuclear devastation (thrash)
rythm/lead guitar @ exile(southern thrash)
every instrument @ chemical mayhem (grindcorethrashmix)

and im going to start soon a dark angel coverband..and maybe also a violator coverbands...,crossover project and also a grunge/punk project

im kinda lucky since i got alot of contacts with bands like municipal waste,violator,waking the dead,the shining and every earache artist (a friend of my mom works for earache so yeah lol),and alot of my friends are musicians :D

im going to release asap the demo of my grindcore project and try to find some dudes to make of the project a real band lol...and im also going to release hopefully if my bandmembers werenñt such a lazy tards XD..or well they´re actualy mostly bussy but yeah how should i say...when i practice alot of times the drummer starts with..dude lets watch a movie im tired....sow how i was saying im going to also make a demo with nuclear devastion and also a split EP with some friend of my...and with my other band exile...im note sure when the demo is going to get out but we already got some shows planned :)
