The Swedish Metal Bible with testimonies from metal and hard rock musicians, many more than I have shown in the pictures below. These Bibles are given out at Metal Festivals in Sweden. There is an English version currently being printed.
That's a load of crap! We don't need censorship in heavy metal. Some of the greatest metal songs in history have had lyrics based on the Bible, or religion, or faith-based ideas. You'd have to throw out a good portion of Black Sabbath's lyrics if you banned religion. Metallica's "Creeping Death" would go out the window. Twisted Sister's "Sin After Sin", Realm "Slay the Oppressor", Flotsam & Jestam "Doomsday for the Deceiver", Devastation "Souls of Sacrifice" would all be banned. etc. etc. etc. That doesn't even take into consideration all the great Christian metal bands.
How about we let people sing about what they want to sing about. Metal is the ultimate musical expression and has room in it for whatever the artist wants to sing about.
so what exactly is this? is it like a book of born again christian metal stars talking about how much they love being a metalhead and a christian at the same time?
haha yeah, i got a feeling they didnt convert that many people, alot of people took the books and burned them at the campsite while shouting hail satan and laughing their asses off haha
I understand where you are coming from. PEople should be able to just enjoy the festivals and the music regardless of race, color or creed. However, the people giving out these Bibles aren't doing so with anything malicious in mind. They feel that they have something positive to offer people in the Bible. The articles are how the Bible has made a positive impact on different artists lives. Why is this such a bad thing? They are not there preaching the evils of rock and roll or something ridiculous like that. It's free. Take it or leave it. It's not a big deal. Actually, I think it's a cool collectible even if you are not a Christian.
Pure shit - that's what this is. I also picked up some Swedish "Bön & Psalmbok" from Sweden Rock. The cover is black with a tribal style Jesus so it would catch the attention of heavy metal people. Inside there's some prayers for alcohol, insomnia, drug and PORN problems, suicidal and murderous thoughts... How about doing something yourself instead of asking an imaginary friend to do it for you? I can't stand this kind of pathetic converting, can't even imagine the horrors of the inquisitions, crusades etc.
I got one of these way back on Hultsfredfestivalen. Think it was 06 or something like that. It all seems very campy, like a "Hey kids you can love Jesus and still rock out with your dudes" kind of way. It just comes of a a cheap trick to "dupe" people into christianity.
Having nothing against Street Church in particular. Sure they have a point of veiw I don't agree with. But at least they are nice about it. They never came of as pompous or with any delusions of grandeur as many other christan groups here in Sweden do(Jehovas Vittnen, Livets ord, Pingstvännerna osv).
I could talk to them as human beings and have a civil talk about religion with them. They seem to be decent people that just wanna share their faith.

I wondered why not a single person commented on this one. Thought it might bring up some 'interesting' comments and conversations.

Brainwash? A book? People brainwash other people. A book doesn't have that power, even if it is the Word of God.

Well then 10,000 if them can end up in the trash if people don't want them. No one is forcing anything on anybody.
And besides, you said, religion doesn't belong in metal". Sounds like censorship to me.
ultmetal on
No, what I am saying is, if you don't want one, don't take one. No one is forcing them on anyone.

I'd take a bag full of them home and dump them in the recycle bin so they could be turned into something useful.
