I thought the same and im waiting for it also. Even though 80% of jackets and vests here are supporting a patch from his band. Sure, they're shit now - i dont think anyone will argue with that but im sure most people here will listen to those first 4 records if they were played for them. There hasnt been a week in over 20+ years that i havent not spun one of those records. I fuckin' had the present 'Tallica but im a massive Metallica fan - there is a difference. Hell, its the scene that his band basically started that gave birth to a horde of patched up fans. And im glad James is wearing it. If Lars was, then id scream POSER!

Well I wouldn't say they're shit. First four kick ass, Black album has it's moment and overall good album. Load-Reload well they pretty much suck. I really enjoy St.Anger and Death Magnetic also has it's moments.

I'm not sure what to think about it.
But the music the patches stand for is what they listened "back in the days".
Venom, Saxon, Tank, Motörhead, Maiden, Blitzkrieg, Holocaust...
Regarding their Orion Music and more festival, I find it a bit pitty, none of these bands is playing there.
But I'm assuming he still listens to these bands, maybe not as often as 30 years ago, but still...
I'd like to hear more about that vest, since I really like the early Metallica stuff and they're still a kick ass live act!

Tank, Anti Nowhere League, Venom... Any oldschool Metallica fan should know that these kind of bands were the inspiration for early Metallica. Sometimes people tend to forget Metallica were once a thrash metal band. I've even seen picture of him wearing a Venom shirt!

A lot of people give Hetfield shit, but ive always thought he was the coolest guy in Metallica. Its pretty awesome a guy in a band that huge would wear a battle jacket with patches of bands that influenced the band.

Hetfield is still one of the best frontmen in Metal today (as he has been for over the past 20 years). All the bands on his jacket are bands he has talked up/promoted for as long as i can remember, the fact that he probably had an assistant make it for him or that Metallica are not the band they were in the 80's doesn't matter.I bet he knows more about the bands on his jacket than a lot of the so called Metal Heads i run into at gigs. In conclusion.... Hetfield good, Metallica not so good (anymore)rant over.
