Dear Ladies and Gents,
I am looking for band suggestions that were active mostly in the end of the 90s/beginning of the 2000s in the extreme death metal scene.
Not the techinical bands like Deeds of Flesh and Dying Fetus but the real "fast" blastbeat and guitar stuff that were mostly inspired by old Morbid Angel/Deicide/Amon
Kinda hard to explain what I mean, so let me list some bands I mean:
Angelcorpse
Centurian
(old) Hate
(2000-era) Behemoth
Rebaelliun
Krisiun
Vomitory
Diabolic
Severe Torture
Soulreaper
Abhorrence
Nelphast
Pandemia
Iconoclasm
Distraught
Ancestral Malediction
Ophiolatry
Imperious Malevolence
Funeratus
Mental horror
If anyone can recommend me more bands similiar to the ones mentioned above, I will be verry happy.
Thank you and keep it metal! /m\

cool band, but a bit to technical for me. Thanks foe the suggestion nonetheless /M\
TheSabbathsCreed on
Well you said bands like Morbid Angel/Deicide & Amon....AEON dosent fit that cause its to "technical" ???
Morbid Angel-Summoning Redemption....,.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IKmo4mX5QBQ
Deicide-Deicide......
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8SM2FrsY4Gg
Sorry if these are to "technical" for you....
laurensgrFCDB on
just a bit to technical yes, I like to lay emphasis on the fast guitar work like Angelcorpse and Centurian do. It's like hearing a Thrash metal band with way more death metal blast beats. I think Aeon are good as well but their are way more Techinical with their guitar work in the way they are more versatile and put more tempo changes in their songs.
Like I said, its kinda hard to explain and I can understand not everybody knows what I mean.

I've got both albums, They kick ass.

Good suggestion! Knew them already, have seen them live and own both albums as well :)

Thanks, Oh wow that's awesome!! How are they live?
There is so many bands it's hard to keep track of em all, I've been on a Black Metal, Ambient, Classical binge lately.

I have seen them on my very first concert on the Winterfest tour 2009 with Deicide, Vader, Samael and Devian. They kicked ass. blastbeat galore! Steve was really good that concert. Afterwards I bought their first album and last year found their second.
As long as I have my self I'm never alone /M\

Oh wow epic line up!!! I got their second then found their first haha, Scored a patch with it, Will be on my eighth or ninth kutte...
Fantastic song!! \m/

Impiety is good, and Belphegor but those are blackened death metal (Impiety also has thrash inspired vocals) still great tho

I've got exactly what you need, man. Here's a quick list of some absolutely SAVAGE shit that sounds like a ot of what you're asking for, the super fiery, blast-filled DM of the late 90s, mostly coming from Brazil and sometimes Poland. A lot of these are mid-late 90s, but some are newer in that old-school style.
Fleshtized
Gurkkhas
Hate Storm Annihilation (one of my favorite albums, incredible drumming)
Convergence From Within
Chaos Inception
Hate Eternal
Internecine (solo project of Jared Anderson of MA/Hate Eternal, best thing he did. Drumming by Tony Laureano and Derek Roddy)
Kromorth
Hellish God
Martyrium Christi
Mastabah
Mortificy
Gortal
Azarath
Nox (Centurian under another name)
Nephren-Ka
Ogotay
Zi Xul (two members of Centurian that played on Liber Zar Zax, the demo sounds better than the full length btw)
Exterminate (Members of Rebaelliun and I think Mental Horror)
Arhont
Myrkskog (Destructhor of Zyklon and most recently, Morbid Angel)
Demogorgon
Light of Dark
Magnanimus
Beyond Mortal Dreams
Destroying Divinity
Naphobia
Dethroned (only ever did a split with Excommunion. speaking of which....)
Excommunion (Superion is great, split material is OK at best, haven't heard the new album yet)
Dies Irae
Exmortem (DENMARK)
Holder (Brazil)
Havok (from Brazil, not the shitty nu-thrash garbage)
Horned God and The Ordher (both featuring Fabianno from Rebaelliun)
Imperious (SWE)
Uerberos
Laconist
Leper Messiah (don't let the Metallica song name reference fool you, excellent MA-worshipping Mexideath)
Orategod
Oorlogsgoden (demo-only band, worth looking up)
Pyorrhoea
Ravager (Mexico)
Domain/Demonized (did a split called Hellbirth with each other despite having almost the same exact lineup, Domain later became Ravager)
Totten Korps
Now, I also noticed you included Severe Torture, which is a quite different from everything else, so I decided to include a list of some classic sickness that sounds like Severe Torture, that super-meathead early 2000s Unique Leader Records line-up brutal death stuff. If you like it, that's cool, if not, also cool.
Cardinal
Pyaemia
Inveracity
Gorgasm
Incestuous
Peshmerga
Human Filleted
Bloodboil
Disavowed
Mutilated
Arsebreed
Massmurder
Rotting
Caedere

Hey man! Awesome list from which some I already knew but your hit the nail on the head here, listened to a few bands already and this is indeed the stuff I was looking for. Pissed of and super fast!
If you have more names, dont hesitate to put them on here.
*gives you a digital beer and high five*

That early Unique leader and Unmatched brutality records roster is a good call for the straight forward meaty guttural stuff , without being too much tech or overly into retarded slam territory... but anyway heres some at the top of my head..
Drawn and Quartered
Disgorge (US) technical in its own right, but still extremely dark and straight up brutal
Brutality
Blood red throne
Skinless
Putrilage
Embalmer
Goratory
Nunslaughter
Demonical
Inhume
Scattered remnants
Necrotic Disgorgement
Regurgitiation
Solidification
Lust of decay
Human artifcacts
Brodequin
Deprecated
Dawn of demise
Early Cerebral effusion
Early Inveracity
Bloodchurn

Definitely, it's a shame what ULR has become. They still do some good stuff of course (Beneath, Hideous Divinity, Cytotoxin, Afterbirth, Lago etc.) but it's a lot of super bland, modern weedily weedily tech-deathcore, instead of the classic, groundbreaking BDM like Severed Savior or Spawn of Possession they had a decade and a half ago. UBR is great though!!!!!! lots of classick brutality, Orchidectomy probably being one of my faves. Did you know they've returned? They are working on releasing some albums, including Defiled Crypt and my homies in Limbsplitter.
There's honestly not a bad band on that list, tons of great late 90s-early 2000s brutal death. Good list!!

pessimist is one that stands out to me... in particular "cult of the initiated" & "blood for the gods" albums... they definitely had their own style despite their music being nothing but straight up death.

indeed a great band man, cheerz /M\
