Recently i got me a new shirt in from Enslaved, but last time i looked i noticed a small hole in it.I am worried more will appear.
First of all i dont get how they came in there.I didn't washed it at all?!
Any remarks how this could happen?Shared thoughts are appreciated.
Cheers!

Ravishing, this usually happens from puncturing the shirt on something or stretches. It stretches in the same spot few times and bang there is a hole. Nothing to worry about. This is going to happen to all cotton. Sometimes its also a defect. They are not very visible.
Ravishing Grimness on
That's really weird,'cause it's on a non stretching place. The small hole is on the lower back where no stretching occurs.Anyway, i am indeed guessing it's a fabric defect. It's decent textile so wouldn't expect that.
vkok on
It could when you just put it on in a specific way. Stretch them little here and there....but definately something is defected there.
vkok on
There was also times when I gave my shirts to bulkier people than me. When I got them back...there were holes in few places.
Ravishing Grimness on
Haha i never borrowed out my shirts.Me and my brother used to do that sometimes. He was less careful about the shirts, and at the end i got them back full of holes and cigarette burns.Tried to fix them with thread and needle. But you always can notice it...
vkok on
Yup...must be a defect or just the way you put it on...they do stretch fast. Most cig burns are on my fingers mostly :))
Unjustifiablexi... on
Better on your finger than on the back of one of your favorite shirts cause of those drunk idiots in the crowd that have to stumble all over the place with a fucking cigarette in their hand..
vkok on
True...here they don't allow people to smoke in concerts anymore. Have to be in a designated area now. Before it would've been smell of weed and tobacco all over the place. Same in Germany? I almost never smoked inside a concert hall in any case. I do anything possible to limit myself on cigies.
Unjustifiablexi... on
I'm pretty sure smoking is forbidden in most concert halls here too but it may also depend on the organizer of the event and the owner of the place. All I know is that people do it anyways.. I myself don't really care if people do it or not.. Just stay the fuck away from my shirt!! haha.. Outdoors though I tend to smoke too.. But I won't be drunk running into people with my cigarette.. Some people are pretty inconsiderate at concerts so I usually watch from a little bit back.. Call me a wimp but that's how I learned to enjoy concerts :)

yeah i am a wimp too...i usually stand far behind now and sometimes plug my ears if i have something important at work the following day. Life can be unfair to metalheads. and someone ruining my shirt would kill me...especially if i wear something rare.

IMO the more holes, the more good looking it is
vkok on
As long as they are not too big. I have some shirts from the 90's that could be used as glory holes.
Ravishing Grimness on
Yeah i have one from Judas Iscariot full of holes,Tried to sew them with thread and needle, the outcome was just even worse.Whole the shirt is uneven.hahaha

If shirt is worth it, better take it to a tailor. I did ruin few shirts with diy approach. should've just spent 10$ on a tailor. Its amazing how good they fix it. It also takes them 10 minutes to do it.
Ravishing Grimness on
Don't even start.I ordered a Funeral Winds tshirt once at Sadolust Records,Holland. There was a loose thread, and once thought i just could rip it off, the whole sleeve went along. At the end the sleeve was totally loose.Bad shit quality.I brought it to the tailor which costed me 25 euros to fix it.At the end in whole the tshirt costed me 42 euros.
vkok on
wow some expensive tailors you got there...we got this lady down the street that does these thing for 10 or so. that would be equivalent of 6 Euros approx. Madness to ask so much money...
Ravishing Grimness on
It has nothing to do with being expensive. It took her some time since the thread was completely loose. It took her some time to get the same line of sewing again as it was before. The shirt was cheap fabrication she said.Very poor sewing work.
vkok on
so the shirt i guess was total garbage...looks like she had to structure it again...thats hellfire
Ravishing Grimness on
Yes, it was.The pattern was totally screwed.Yes..she partly had to sew it all over again.Happy that Sadolust Recs. got shut down!by fire. It seems he doesnt have the funds to restart all over again.
vkok on
Hey Ravishing! Youre back.
Maybe karma got to them?
That sucks getting a shirt like that! Why even bother sending it to you. Just refund and thats all.
Wonder if the sales guy sewed that shirt himself.
Ravishing Grimness on
What i know the owner worked for a employement agency. So he was quite simple.
I think he just picked easiest solution, and hired some cheap Asians to do the sewing :P ahaha
vkok on
now thats really an odd shirt shop. Maybe he was just one of those human traffic guys?
Ravishing Grimness on
Yeah, it was relatively unkown. Dont think the shop made it far outside the borders of the Netherlands.Besides shirts he also sold buttons, and lp's, cassettes etc.
We also have another shop with the same reputation Wolfsvuur Records.
vkok on
any good shops in your proximity? this is really odd. I always though you had quality stores.
Ravishing Grimness on
No.Not at all. Now we have Raw Skull Recordz, but are expensive as hell in shirts.Cosmic Key Creations.Heidens Hart, New Era and that's about it.
Ravishing Grimness on
lol don't agree :P
vkok on
yeah younger people aim for the vintage stuff...us middle agers or near that aim for newer look :)

- cotton eating moths
- burning cigarettes
- sitting on it when it's too long over your butt
- shitty thin shirt quality
- manufacturing defect
Ravishing Grimness on
I possibly have to go with manufacturing defect.

I always have em at the bottom of the back due to sitting down and wearing a studded belt.

Depending on your sewing skills if they're just small holes you can easily sew them closed, I've done it with an Amon Amarth shirt I've had for several years and a newer Burzum shirt. I'm no expert at it by any means but I managed to do it!
Ravishing Grimness on
In the past when i tried to fix a small hole, a new one appeared. The textile was just of bad quality. I had shirts in the past thin as paper! Worst quality ever! Like for example an Arckanum longsleeve which i ordered through Perverted Taste Music,Germany.
Last couple of years the label is known releasing unofficial merchandise. They got for example in trouble bringing illegal AGALLOCH merchandise on the markets.Besides that the quality of shirts is really poor...
vkok on
Well at least few shops in your proximity. Here i have to drive for few hours here and there to get to any decent metal shops. Or the goddamn online.
Ravishing Grimness on
Yeah, so you told me in the past already. Sort of sucks driving up more miles finding a good reliable shop where you can get Metal merchandising.

I get a lot of holes around the waist of my shirts too. Even the more resilient fabric will wear over time it it's constantly leaning on something like a belt buckle (especially one of those buckles with the roller cylinder that you see on a lot of studded belts - those things get surprisingly sharp). Even the rivets around the pockets on a pair of jeans can push on the fabric and bore a hole over time!

That's just a symptom of our shirts getting older, mate.
