I'd love to add some Metal Pin Badges to my jacket (Bands I can't find any good patches of, or simply don't have room for) but the butterfly-type backs don't feel very secure, and feel like they'd fall off from being anywhere near a pit! Is there a better way of securing them?

I don't have any actual experience on the subject but I've seen people sew it down in a few spots which doesn't look as bad as it may sound.

If possible you can drill small holes into them and sew them on.
Did it with the Impaled on my battle jacket.

I personally sew some securing threads with fishing line. For less hassle, I know a bunch of users here use so-called "pin keepers" in place of the butterfly clasps, which seem to be totally secure: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/a/(KGrHqV,!qEE63Z2hSYYBPECqmV8mQ~~/s-l300.jpg

I just replied to a similar question. I make small brass fastners with a grub screw in the side which clamps the fastner tight onto the pin. Ive used several on all my badges and never had one come loose. They can be made on a small lathe. I think I've seen aluminium ones for sale on ebay. I'm new here so I've not yet worked out how to upload pictures. I'll do so soon.

Superglue, my friend. I've had my Nihilist and Pepe pins on my black metal jacket make it through a number of pits and nearly daily wear. Of course, be sure of where you're putting them before you commit, but then again in case of anything simply use a dab of acetone
