So Nicko has made the decision to leave Iron Maiden at least for the touring part. He does claim he will stay part of the Iron Maiden Family in some form. What this means I haven't read yet. Will he still drum on the (potential) new releases? Will he give drum advice. Will the new drummer only be touring member or the full fledged drummer? I personally have a lot of questions.
The band already found his replacement but have yet to announce who it is.
While I 100% understand why he quits it still sucks for me since he is/was one of my favourite and for me most important members of the band. But with his age and the stroke he suffered some time ago I 100% understand ofc.

I am so glad I saw Iron Maiden every time I had a chance to. Even in venues with bad acoustics. I will never forget seeing the stage backdrop change to wintery Alps landscape and that absolute thrill of recognition what it means, just as the first notes and that incredible drum work come pounding out. Grateful to catch that song live while I could.
The drums on Where Eagles Dare, per an old interview with Nicko, are so exerting they seldom played it live.
Moral of story, folks keep going to see your favorite bands even if you think they tour a lot, you never know and we're all not getting any younger. Memories are forever.

Yes I agree. I've seen em somewhere between 10 and 20 times between 2006 and now. Will I never go see them with Simon Dawson instead of Nicko? I never say never. I do know I'm skipping the next tour. Was already planning to do so. Nothing to the band. Just personal mostly money reasons :P I just came out of a big housemove. But for me knowing Nicko won't be on the next tour makes it feel less sad that I won't be seeing them this time around.
