what are some metal things you wanna check off your list

gorestar's picture

One I have is that I want to go to a fest outside the US, I’m hoping to make that happen one day!

Child Of Baal's picture

Commitment baby
Would like to do the same but to festivals outside Europe like Maryland Deathfest, Milwaukee Metal Fest, Asakusa Deathfest, Mexico Metal fest etc

gorestar's picture

The #1 fest I want to do outside of the US is Asakusa Deathfest! It sounds like a fun time but honestly all fests with good line ups are haha.

Child Of Baal's picture

One day bro, one day.

oldmate's picture

One of mine is to see a US fest and also Asakusa fest. I have been to a few in Europe now and also in Australia

MetalNDN's picture

Haven’t been to Maryland Deathfest yet, want to go someday. And Milwaukee Metalfest is back, go see that festival too.

I been to a few European metal festivals so I don’t need to go there anymore.

no karate in pit's picture

probably just go to any metal festival and have my fav artist sign my vest and for the final one i have a army jacket i cut the sleeves off of with only military patches on it i want to have as many veterans sign it because i have alot of respect for anyone who served in the armed forces but i have no respect for the gov

Insecurity's picture

see iron maiden at least once

no karate in pit's picture

same

oldmate's picture

I have checked that box !! its a must :)

ThatBillyGuy's picture

Be in a mosh pit, circle pit, wall of death, and crowd surf. I also wanna go to some of the big metal festivals like wacken open air and hellfest. I also wanna be in the snake pit for Metallica and see a bunch of my favorite bands I haven’t had the chance to see yet.

no karate in pit's picture

same all those are on mind

I genuinely want to create/work with a patch distro at some point. The staff at Awhprod, Patches Against the Grain, Ptpp and many others have shown me that merch making is an artform, and I can tell they're truly passionate about what they do. I wouldn't call myself an artist, but I love bringing my mad ideas to life, and respect everyone who does the same in any shape or form🖤🖤

no karate in pit's picture

do it dude

a chicken's picture

I'll definitely look into it man, I'm no businessperson either but I know that starting a company when you're already flat broke isn't the best idea😅

no karate in pit's picture

crank on it and start a go fund me cause i would love too see your store and i have some ideas for cool patches

Kofuv6's picture

A good idea would be NOT do be like awhp, temporial, ptpp, nuclear winter among others who just make the same shit over and over and over and over again for ez cash and not for passion.

2nd tip is to actually understand what makes a good patch and what makes a bad patch. For example a lot of ppl dont like ptpp for his shapes so they wanna make their own patch instead, the problem with that is 9,9/10 times the colours and details are pure fucking shit in comparison which makes it a worthless patch and worthless effort, you taken 1 step forward but also 1 step backwards.

Using the ones u used as an example for passionate ppl are just simply wrong and retarded, im sry but im honest, you cannot be in the right mindset and say, wow awhp is such a unique patch maker while the only thing he does is Sodom and Blasphemy cuz thats ez cash not passion, same can be said for ptpp, dude should have called it quites a while ago, he USED to be all about passion but thats no longer the case, you dont work with bands like metallica and say ur having fun, esp now that the dude behind ptpp has left social media due to being a bit too fragile. If Patches Against the Grain is passionate then im a national socialist communist which isnt possible.

im not saying that u shouln't go for it, but please, don't be boring like the rest, make stuff that doesn't exist, fill a actual gap unlike nuclear winter.

If u wanna follow actual passionate patch maker then follow Woven Hoff, Veil of the Void, Iron and Ash, Blood Like Rain, Maximum Brutality Patches, Grind Crow Patches, Desecration of Souls Productions and Diabolic Force.

I might have forgotten someone but then it's prob a smaller one or 2.

Hope this helps you a bit on your journey.

Cheers

a chicken's picture

Yeah I understand what you're getting at man, when I referred to the specific creators I didn't mean that I wanted to do the exact same things, but rather think outside the box in similar terms of the designs, genres, materials, formats ect that they use. I personally think that "ez cash" is absolutely not the goal of any patch maker I know about, but I'll agree to disagree. Cheers for your input though🙏🤘

no karate in pit's picture

chicken my only request is that some of my ideas get made

a chicken's picture

We'll see how far I get with it first 😅

no karate in pit's picture

haha well good luck dude

no_teleology's picture

What's your beef with Nuclear Winter Prods? Sure they makes patches for some "popular" (in the underground at least) bands, but the designs are tasteful and the quality is great. Honestly some of the best modern patches I've bought alongside the ones you mentioned like Woven Hoof and Diabolic Force.

Child Of Baal's picture

"Honestly some of the best modern patches I've bought alongside the ones you mentioned like Woven Hoof and Diabolic Force."

You will regret that one lol, have fun with him.

Kofuv6's picture

kys

Kofuv6's picture

Idk what definition you have of tasteful but clearly u need to revisit to see what it actually means so here is a link for that https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/tasteful

Quality is NOT great unforturnatly and here is why
Details are pure shit, dude has no clue how to design the patches which is clearly visible, only thing he does is send the artwork to whoever makes the patches (will come back to this patchmaker later) and the results speaks for themselves.

Compare his patches to other patchmakers which i mentioned above like Woven hoof and Veil of the Void who understands the limitation of a patch that cannot be truly translated just as well as a real album cover but try their best regardless with usually rly good results.

The biggest problem for most patchmakers today is actually their manufacturer, Nuclear Winter has used the same one as Raputre and Starside among others and holy fuck that person does not do a good job (I know what Ely has done) but plz find someone else then ffs. Why make shit patches, can u rly be happy while making this shit? unless there is something else which drives the engine here???

I understand that you are a bit retarded and should consider getting a pair of glasses but man cmon, one of the best patchmakers today? rly dude? are u rly that dumb? Look at the patches below and tell me that they are good? His IVth Crusade bp and Gorement bp is legit one of the worst shit i've ever seen in my entire life. Can you from your heart tell me that the Gorement BP is a good BP? just slap a BIG ASS LOGO on the lower half and call it a day? the background is super pale and boring, 0% details, 0% fun, 0% creativity, 0% passion, 100% PURE GREED AND IGNORANCE

Pro tip, dont talk about patches again plz.

Kofuv6's picture

Also Woven Hoof thanks for the dm u sent me but 3 things

1, Muskelrock next summer again?
2, U have blocked me apparently (not the 1st one or last one) so i cannot write to u if i wanna sell my Parabellum patch)
3, gimme Seventh son bp, i have money

no_teleology's picture

You seem to be getting a bit worked up my guy, dunno why you feel so personally about this stuff 😂 Obviously not every design is a hit. But they have some good patches you can admit that. Please, tell me how these two patches are soo different in quality

Greaserjlg's picture

There's quite a few graves/memorials I want to visit to pay respects to my heroes: Dio, Lemmy, Peter Steele, and Cliff Burton among others.

ThatBillyGuy's picture

I didn't think of that but I would definitely want to do that at some point.

no karate in pit's picture

MortalFate's picture

No bucket list here. Have lived a life I never imagined would be possible.

no karate in pit's picture

well congrats

MortalFate's picture

Thank you. Living with no expectations goes a very long way.

MortalFate's picture

Keep in mind the golden age of metal is past. It's not coming back. Plenty of people keeping the movement going but it won't be the 80s/early 90s.

no karate in pit's picture

ya never know i still hope for a resurgence even though i know it probably will not happen

MortalFate's picture

I'd be surprised if it's still going 100 years from now. Freedom of thought may be a different reality by then.

MortalFate's picture

This is probably the future of metal. North Korean orchestra and chorus playing RATM.

no karate in pit's picture

oh pls god no- ozzy

MortalFate's picture

Video was removed but there's another one up. The North Korean orchestra does play other songs, too. I can see some orchestra playing Slayer down the road for some dictator somewhere.

a chicken's picture

I feel this too in a lot of ways, I'm grateful for all the rad stuff I've been able to experience, people I've met, and things I've made. Probably wouldn't regret if I missed out on much else

Was wearing a Harlequins jersey and Bruce points me out from the crowd at around 4:00. Took me about 10 seconds to figure out what I'm supposed to do. You can hear me yell, "Yeah!" At around 4:18.

oldmate's picture

dude how do you live in Europe and have not need to be Obscene Extreme ? do it and do it soon. I reckon next years might be the last. Its just a gut feeling I have

oldmate's picture

I have a few things on my metal bucket list, but I have also crossed off most of them.

In Order of importance to me

1 - Seeing Billy Milano live S.O.D. or M.O.D. I dont care
2 - See GUT live
3 - See Cliff Burton's memorial
4 - Go to Asakusa Deathfest
5 - Go to 70000 tons of metal (Less and less bands I like seem to be playing so that might have to be removed)

I got a bunch more but these are my top 5 as things get crossed off new ones are added. shit, a few years ago listing 1000 different patches on tshirtslayer would have been on that list :)
