Just started getting into funeral doom metal and I want to discover more bands. Anyone have any artist, album, or song recommendations? I'd love to hear them!
Also, I found this band called Against Thee Wickedly. I really love their song "Dirge". Anyone know songs similar to that one?
Ea (Their whole concept is built up on a supposed forgotten ancient knowledge and there is a huge mystery around the whole band. Utmost phenomenal, dare I say monumental, one of the best without the slightest doubt): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUZfQjhulXE
Second vote for Ahab mentioned in the prior comments.
Bell Witch is a more modern funeral doom band that has made the rounds in the past decade.
I also have to mention Reverend Bizarre. They are a quintessential traditional doom metal band (of sorts) but I feel like they heavily supplement the interest in much slower and longer compositions with songs like The Festival or Cirith Ungol (10, 20+ minutes in length)
