Labrador retrievers and especially golden retrievers all have this disarming facial expression, I can't help but smile back whenever I meet one. The definition of "wholesome doggo" :)
Those are the real best friends, once you befriended them, only you are able to betray the friendship, they just can’t, they don’t know how. That makes the friendship special but is an enormous responsibility for the human.
So true... she's my first dog and I have been learning more about that responsibility every day. Before this I owned a few hamsters, fish, and turtles. All great pets. But nothing compared to the trust and loyalty of a dog.
Oh, a dog is something very special, but the first dog is sometimes just an overwhelming experience. Some of the happiest moments a human can experience in his life are with his first dog.
I think you’re right. The first few months were turbulent. Tara was on and off with Giardia, a parasite, which she caught on the farm where she was raised. We had a lot of long nights awake because of that. Also we didn’t understand how to feed a dog and I usually just let her have whatever she wanted. Things have gotten much better since I’ve become more disinclined about her diet
I know the possible health issues all too well, the only things that actually can bring unhappy times, unfortunately, those are the risks of owning a dog. My dogs didn't have Giardia (I know of them, though, it's a nasty parasite), but the digestion of my Great Dane wasn't working optimally when he was younger. That means sometimes we had to go out in the middle of the night and sometimes "it" just happened at home. He currently gets HappyDog kibble and that seems to work well.
We went through the same surprise “night calls” with Tara for the first few months, on and off. Luckily she’s been good for the last few months. I’m happy to hear that your Great Dane is doing well now. I don’t think we have HappyDog here, but Hill’s science diet kibble is working out just fine for Tara.
The dog looks amazing this reminds me of a cat from a venue place that I often go to that I decided to name Lily Munster after black no.1 yeah I know she is from the Munster

That’s a very accurate description. Mine is no exception, and she is adamant about having to greet every. single. human. that we come across!

Very good! It's our responsibility to provide the best care possible, their trust and friendship deserves it!
