Posing with some friends of mine at the door of the legendary Shades Records store in St. Anne's Court/Soho/London, back in 1988.....I was the one's wearing the black leather jacket.
Thanks a lot, Boss. It was a worldwide legendary records store located in London; it closed in the 90's, if I remember well. There's a tribute/in memory page on facebook, too and probably some " come of age " british TSS's members remember it.
Now ths is awesome..Was only asking yesterday on my fb page for any old Shades photo's...I used to order from them all the time and it was the first and last stop whenever in London..So killer!! And you have the original bag!!
My friend, do you remember it, really ? If I remember well Mike Channon ran the shop, and there was Kelv Hellraizer behind the desk, a glam fox with tons of haispray in his hair; first time I saw him, I believed he came from Hollywood, he did seem coming from a LA glam band.....The shop sold every metal genre, from trash to glam. Metallica and Poison's meet & greet increased the fame of that shop.
Hell yes of course!! Yeah Kelv was always there..Cool guy!! I ordered loads as they ran a small ad every time in Kerrang..Always great imports etc..And every metal gig or trip to London we would go..It was kind of a meeting point for all metalheads..And of course not forgetting the Legendary Metallica signing day in '85.. With Cliff..Killer!!
Yeah its funny I posted a short Shades video clip with Kelv just yesterday on me fb page asking for old photos..One of my old friends posted a pic and another mentioned he may have an old Shades bag..Then I saw your post on here today..Freaky :]
Oh and I was also there just after the Poison signing aswell..I met a bunch of friends who went to meet them..I'm pretty sure I was down London to see a gig that same day..I'm thinking it may have been Overkill..But i'm not sure..??
Yes, remember that video, I saw it on You Tube, maybe it was an interview with Kelv about what the shop sold and, if remember well, he showed, among the others stuff, a Stryper shirt or something like that. Also I was lucky enough to attend a gig in the old Marquee Club in Wardour street, very near Shades at that time, it was a japanese band called Vow Wow with Neil Murray on bass, Little Angels supported; it was in august 1987, and among the little crowd there were 3 members from Metallica, but I was too shy to ask for signings or something else.......Anyway, if you send me in private your mail address, I'll email you the pic of the Shades's bag, no problem..
Thanks Nisse; yeah, we talked about that a couple of years ago, I've been in London in the same years, in august, exactly. You told me you were in London in August 1990, maybe we was in the same shop/store at the same time.......freaky!!
