My neighborhood carnival gets an A+ this year. Blue Öyster Cult on Friday and Living Colour on Saturday? For free?! Hellyeah!!!! This was my first time seeing Living Colour properly. I had seen them years ago as part of a Jimi Hendrix tribute show, but that doesn't really count as they only played Hendrix material. Their energy level was through the roof from beginning to end, but unfortunately the Skokie, IL crowd wasn't feeling it as many spent the majority of the show on their phones. Corey even begged us to open a pit up halfway through the show, but there'd be no such like until they closed out with “Cult of Personality”. Corey jumped into the crowd for that one and I got kicked in the head by a couple overzealous crowd surfers, but it was worth it. Nothing like good friendly violent fun!
That's exactly what I said! This fest has booked nothing but grunge and new wave washouts for the last so many years. This year they took a total 360. I'm still amazed!

If you take a 360 you'd be back where you started, but a bit more tired and annoyed.
Have seen them twice ( last 16 year ago...). Can't wait to attend my hometown gig next november. I remember they were great players, Corey was great frontman, but I'm sure they still are.

Such a great band and arguably the greatest funk metal band depending on if you consider that a valid subgenre.
What competition do they have? Infectious Grooves? Fishbone, who aren't metal?
It's a small niche.

Exactly. Personally I wouldn't consider it a valid subgenre, but I know there's a small handful of people who do.
