Nice, I appreciate that. Imo there are too many people that have expensive cameras and/or objectives but no experience or just don't take good pictures. I've also got "only" a cheap DSLR with mostly a cheap 50mm f1.8 objective.
A "cheap" 50/1.8 is an understatement, as that lens is probably the best ever for concert photography. Agree, I know plenty of people like that, big equipment and barely any experience. The important thing is always light, the more, the merrier. And also pay attention to what's going on on stage and sometimes be a little lucky I guess. I do love when I can get quality shots with a non-fullframe like this and still beat the shit out of people with thousands invested in material. :D
Haha yeah, you're absolutely right! :D Well the objective did cost only 100€ - I think that's pretty cheap compared to other ones. But yeah, it's the most fun, photographing with that. Not only because of the fast aperture. I think it's great to walk around, get closer or more distant from the stage to change the picture composition - and not only zoom in and out. The only bad thing with that objective is the slow auto focus, I might change to a f1.4 or sth like that once I have the money for it.
I'm also often wondering why I'm faster finished with my photos and leaving the pit earlier than many of those people with their expensive equipment that are taking hundreds of pictures from the same band, whereas I can get a few nice shots with my low budget equipment. :D

Amazing concert photography Joe! Any idea what type of guitar the Nameless Ghoul is playing?
Joe77 on
Thanks bro. The white guitar is a custom Hagstrom, I know that as a friend of mine bought the exact same guitar.

Awesome photos! What equipment do you use?

Thanks man. Affordable stuff to be honest. These were taken using a Nikon D3100 + a 17-55mm lens that came with the machine.
