EXODUUUUUUS ATTACK!!!!!! This was Friday night and last night at a venue called the Chapel in San Francisco. Extremely cool, professionally filmed event I'm glad I took part in. Friday night was especially amazing since they played the mighty Bay Area classic Bonded by Blood in it's entirety. You know that's ending up on a DVD very soon!
The pit was going non-stop for almost 50 minutes! It was fucking crazy! Gary hasn't gone anywhere. I'm thrilled that they played an album I worship in its entirety and I'm also thrilled that it's all going to end up on a professionally filmed DVD. You know I'm buying that when it's released!
When I saw exodus last year they had a different guitarist instead of Gary. Gary will only tour with exodus if he's not busy with slayer. Bit of a shame really
Landmark album no doubt! Will have to pick this up when it's out.
Wonder if we'll spot you Joel haha, I'm in Alestorm's - Live At The End Of The World, At the end of Nancy The Tavern Wench mate and I spotted my face!!
I think there's a good chance you'll see me in that upcoming video. There were multiple camera men in that place. You may see me either in the pit or crowd surfing.
Do you know how much that meant to us? That's the San Francisco Bay Area equivalent of the 1989 - 1990 lineup of Entombed playing Left Hand Path in it's entirety live in Stockholm. The only way that could have possibly been any better is if Paul Baloff was still alive.
Yeah that "murder in the front row" time in bay area must have been such a special time, with all the great thrash bands. I can truly relate too it as the same as the Stockholm death metal scene in the late 80's! We watched a lot of vcr tapes at that time, from that scene, wishing that we could go there! I guess the grass is always greener... : )=
It was an extremely special time in Metal history with the likes of Metallica's first three, Exodus, Possessed, early Slayer, Legacy/Testament, Death Angel, Heathen, etc. What's cool about the whole thing is that when the Bay Area Thrash Metal scene was fading at the end of the 80s, Swedish Death Metal started exploding thanks in large part to what Jeff Hanneman (born in Oakland) and the members of Possessed created here in the Bay Area in the mid 80s with albums like Hell Awaits and Seven Churches. Think of it as an international continuation. The grass started changing from green to yellow & brown here in Northern California but around the same time the grass started getting a hell of a lot greener over in Sweden thanks to the likes of Entombed/Nihilist, Carnage/Dismember, Grave, and Merciless to name a few!
