Family meeting Chrigel (Eluvetie) 9/16/15

My spouse, self, and son meeting Chrigel Glanzmann of Eluveitie!!!

I don't know why the kiddo put his head down for the photo, go figure... We all had VIP passes and got to meet all 8 members before the show which included hanging out and talking (no "get your autograph and fuck off" but actual conversation) and hearing a private acoustic mini-set. It was a TON of fun, they were all super nice! Everyone signed my jacket and talked to us like buddies. They are as sweet and approachable as they are talented! The show RULED, it was our second time seeing them as a family (kiddo's third metal show altogether) and for how cheap the VIP passes were we got a ton of stuff! I was actually looking at shit seats to Black Sabbath's last concert (where you can pay THOUSANDS to stand in the front row and meet the band) and thought, fuck it, lets all do this together and have some real memories! It was still cheaper than sitting in the nosebleeds in a stadium (ugh, sitting at concerts). I had a feeling it would be our last show for a while and between a struggling farm and a scary medical emergency (that ended okay but the bills are aweful) it was and I'm so glad we got to do this!

Some highlights were getting one-on-one time with each member and getting to thank them for the music that has been a part of our life and share little anecdotes... Like telling Anna Murphy about how our son would fall asleep to her singing. Merlin Sutter laughing because our three year old could pronounce the band's name correctly before I could. Raphael complimenting the Eluveitie patch on his tiny battle jacket... After the show we stopped by the bus to thank Chrigel again and tell him the show was great. He grabbed our boy and hugged him close and he said he missed his two little kids at home! My heart pretty much melted at that point. Now the kiddo runs around with a tin whistle and pretends to be him. <3

Prior to this we met some members of Trollfest and Jonne Järvelä (who played drunken peek-a-boo with our son) but I failed to get a photo. We also missed a chance to meet Chrigel at the first show we went to together because I was super nervous, so buying passes ensured I'd get to do that and have a photo opportunity. ;P
