The first time I ever saw Cannibal Corpse was at the 9:30 Club in Washington DC in Feb. '93. opening bands were Unleashed and Epidemic. Barnes was wearing this shirt onstage and I thought it was the coolest of all the shirts they were selling that night, I wanted this shirt soooooo bad but didn't have the $30 cash to buy one that night- being a broke 16 year old at the time, all my cash had gone to the ticket. I've been looking for this shirt ever since. I would pay a LARGE sum of money if I ever one were made available for sale.
Amen to that. I always tried to have $30 cash on hand (the standard price of a longsleeeve for the "big" bands) from then on when I was going to a show. But there were still many missed opportunities. Not getting a Ripping Corpse t-shirt (front logo only) in '92 or thereabouts for lack of having $15 on me still haunts me.
Just for fun, I'll mention the first death metal tour t-shirt I ever bought at a show- Malevolent Creation t-shirt (venue: The Bayou in Wash, DC, don't recall the date) for $15. It had the Malevolent logo above Mansons's face on the front and "Kill the Pigs" on the back as if smeared in blood- under that "1992 Retribution Tour". No list tour tour dates on it. From looking on t-shirt slayer, it seems this shirt is quite rare and they used the same, Manson, front image for other tours as well.
Your Barnes collection is amazing. Much respect for however you negotiated that deal. He was my favorite singer/frontman of that whole scene. No other death metal frontman had the charisma and power he had on stage in those days. I was completely fascinated by him when I was in my teens. If the time ever comes when you feel you can part with this shirt in particular, you can count on a sure buyer here.
