So what? Ulver's first three albums only deal with dark folklore, Enslaved has always been about Scandinavian history and Burzum's lyrics mostly dealt with forests and mythology. And seriously, if you call Emperors lyrics out to be crap. Have you ever read the lyrics for releases such as Deathcrush and A Blaze in the Norther Sky? Classic yes, but hardly anything stellar.

I have the feeling his mindset comes from reading interviews...statements of some second-wave pioneers. From what I understand Emperor was thought to be copycat and "untrve" by them.

There are no angles on black metal. Except true or not true. The black metal movement was started by Mayhem in order to provoce and destroy, not talk about Lord Of The Rings. So of course, there can be no other way. Black metal is supposed to be like that. It is supposed to smell Blasphemy, Black Death and church smoke. Bands like Funeral Mist, Malign, Mayhem etc.
