Combat's at festival's, Hi-tops for everything else
Hi tops!
boots, shinny black ass kickin' leather fucking boots!!!
Engineer Boots
boots, end of story lol
Steel Toe, combat or biker.
Hi tops
..i have choosen Combat Boots, when i MUST choose.
But still prefering Summer Concerts/Festivals and go with FLIP FLOPS :D lol
boots - since I've worn mine at sonisphere switzerland last year (where mud hell broke loose) I wouldn't go to a festival/concert without 'em
Hi tops those are better to your feet! :D
Boots, cause im super kvlt-grim black metal 24/7, and if anyone gets Scheiste with me i will kick them in the face. But many times in fact it is quicker to put on my converse and some shorts to go about in, still prefer boots though.
ICH WÜRD IN DEM ZEUCH LÄCHERLICH AUSSEHN
Boots. Every day. I've tried to move on since the 80s. How the fuck do basketball shoes have ANYTHING to do with metal anyways? They're only associated with thrash because thrash was popular in the 80s and EVERYONE wore hightops back then. Not just metalheads.
I'm far too lazy to put boots on before leaving the house. XD
high tops will win the day!!!
and for some reason this comment at the beginning from lars ulrich always comes to mind

I use boots during winter but sometimes hi tops!
Boots, whether it's combat style or not-They are great for work(some work), great for life, great for durability(they are dependable and there's no need to replace them), great for hiking, great for making short people like myself seem a tad bit taller, I don't have to wear skinny jeans to make them look right and they are great for stomping hipster feet!!!
I think high tops have become a bit of a cliche...and I mean, I know that in a sense, boots have as well, but I've never been fond of high tops. It's probably the way they look and the way they feel for my feet. The whole appeal of it originally stemmed from the fact that they were the most accessible foot wear in the late 70's and 80's,when that whole sneaker high top movement really boomed, especially as sort of "proto basketball footwear" and it didn't matter whether someone liked metal or not! since then, I think it's changed....but *some* people seem to attribute the aesthetic appearance of the high tops as = "true metal head" just because Saxon, Anthrax, etc bands like this wore the shoes back in the day.
Do I like sneakers? Yep, I too have a pair of sneakers and it's often more convenient to put those on as opposed to my boots, but footwear like sneakers and high tops aren't very supportive, combat boots might be bulky, but at least they support the arch of the foot...another thing that gives it an advantage, especially if one was standing around for hours or walking a lot at places like Wacken or something. I also have a pair of Adidas comfort country/hiking shoes, which I will often wear if I don't feel like putting on boots. Adidas make good shoes for walking as well(some are a bit too expensive $$$$).... but both combat boots and things such as my hiking shoes, or cross trainers are way better for foot support, than something like high tops....Even basketball players now wear better more supportive footwear.
I suppose it all comes down to personal choice, opinion and preference...and in my own personal opinion, I happen to think the whole "thrash to the death" high top/skinny jean thing, is kind of weird.....For example:I like thrash just as much as the next person but I see no reason to associate high tops with being part of the music, where as instead of just personal choice, some people seem to think that high tops are a part of the music.....but I could be wrong!
I guess you have to take into account that I have flat feet, but high tops are literally the only shoes I've ever owned that didn't make my feet hurt over time. To me they provide the perfect support
Thanks Doctor Death for making this a poll! I knew it would be a close race!
Warhoofs till fukken death!!!!!!
High tops during the summer and winter nowadays! Few years ago I had boots but they weren't that ugly combat boot, they were close to these but no exactly:

I like both but high tops are probably more my thing. I like the soft casual feeling of the sneakers.
I also like the classic/oldschool look more than so called "modern metal" look
Classic metal look:

Modern look:

I like the look of the old school metal bands, minus the high tops. I think they look out of place. Lamb of God dresses like a bunch of regular guys, but I wouldn't consider them the most hardcore metal band.
Actually they are quite "hardcore-metal." Fitting label, lol.
Haha, thats true...
I agree
I wore my dirty everyday hightops to a show once, just because it was about an 8 hour drive to and fro the show. I regret wearing them to a show. I wish I had never deviated from my standard combat load-out.
I actually prefer using vans
