I bought some stuff from mp3va.. but.. i'm really not sure if anyone money i send to these guys ends up at the artist, i must find out somehow.
Looks like one of those Russian websites that claim they're paying the artist but don't b/c of some law there. Same with Mp3panda and Mp3fiesta.
EDIT: Yeah. Look @ info. Ukraine.
yeah, ukraine business and the domain is registered in Panama? suspicous..

I have never bought any mp3s, but I have looked at http://www.metalhit.com/, which sells albums for 4.99USD. Up to and including but not limited to: crazy shit like S.M.E.S.:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vqe9MRIkt-E
EDIT: sorry, they USED to have that for sale. No longer.
I collect CD's, vinyl, and tapes. I support the music business.
thumbs up!
I'm a pirate, being in high school I really can't afford to buy all of the albums I like. Only the really good shit.
Hah. I would if it would be reasonable. I live a ways from the nearest decent sized town, would be spending my minimum wage just to get there and back.
same for me
I prefer to have a physical copy of something.
i download allot NEver payed for it.
but i mostly order CD's, Lp's tapes at the band site or ill buy their stuff at a gig.
I have before, but only an album and a half.
If I'm going to buy music, I'll buy the physical copy and possibly pay a couple of dollars extra for postage.
only Hardware (vinyl, tape, CD) is real
I've gotta have the real thing. If I've never found a physical copy, chances are I've never heard the album
If I'm gonna spend the money, I want something physical I can add to my collection.
but you can hold onto your harddrive :P
hahaha
fuck downloading of any kind
I'm not going to pay if I download music. When I pay for the album, I'm waiting to get a physical copy, not only few mp3 files on my computer.
Ok, i'm gonna be honest here: i download a fucking LOT (for free), but i also collect cd's, so i try to support the bands that way (besides going to their gigs and buying official patches), but yeah, as many said before, if i'm gonna pay i want to get a physical thing.
i never have and i never will! Never ever! I dont mind if ppl buy virtual-music, but i want the original stuff at home. I want hold it in my hands. I want the booklet in my hands, i want look at the LP etc.
Both ways supports the band, also to buy it on mp3 - but i want CD/LP/Tape at home in my collection.
Even though I have downloaded music from iTunes, it was pretty much only if the band released their new singles/digital ep there, or if I wanted to have a few songs from them before I got the album.
Other than that, I have always bought my music in physical form. I love the feeling of going into a store/shop and looking in and out of CD's or Vinyl, and picking it up to buy it.
After buying it and taking it home, I really love just holding it in my hands, looking at the awesome artwork, and pulling out the lyric sheet.
So, even though I have and still do download music from time to time, I voted 'Never Have, Never Will' because I pretty much only buy Physical copies. The best kind of copy to have.
Plus...what happens if you have all that music on your computer and don't back it up? GONE.
Precisely on that last point.
As is printed on a lot of early cds: proper care will provide a lifetime of enjoyment! Way better than just the life of your harddrive which is unpredictable
support music industry no the internet!!!!!!
Pretty much the same thought with me.
I never buy digital mp3's.
I buy as many physical copies of albums whenever possible.
My lp collection is growing slowly and my cd collection grows a bit every month.(I'm not a 30 year old rich fuck, nor am I an established working class citizen)
I do download album's occasionally,or particular songs, but it's usually to get a sound for the music(if it's really new) to make a call on whether to get the album, even though it's not 100% accurate quality.
The other time I find myself downloading, is when an album is no longer in print(go ahead, try and find an actual copy of something like Morbid-December Moon or Moonblood's "Blut und Krieg" it's near impossible, and when it does pop up it's expensive and has to be shipped from the other end of the globe, *or* it's a crappy bootleg)
Being the in and out student and between work kind of person I am, I simply don't have the ability to spend money on 9-13$ cd's and 40-50$ lp's every fucking week.I do the best I can to put money aside for album runs every now and then. Sometimes, for example and album like "Transcend the Rubicon" by Benediction, is impossible to find locally or get ordered in, so I download it but that doesn't mean I stop looking for a copy of the actual thing, maybe it will be on e bay or something and when my ability to return to internet shopping resumes, I will do everything in my power to obtain the album.
I find myself realizing, that the best way to support bands is to buy as many of the albums as possible and to see their shows, in fact, I think bands make the most off of their merch at their shows as well as the ticker support.
Another example: I downloaded a Marduk album, but now I actually own a physical copy of the album. So everything happens in parts, I am not somehow "less metal" because I am wary about: finances and print #'s,limit ability, internet shopping, my personal situation, local record store stock, ordering time, etc......all these factors have to weigh in.
I think, that while many would deny it, there is in fact, a balance certain people have to run, then there are those who only download 100% of the time, which I frown upon and spit at with disgust......every now and then? Yes I can understand this, but 100% of the time, no....people should have at least some cd's and lp's in their collection or just not try at all, then again some countries(not my own) especially in the middle east, (I would think?, or maybe parts of Asia?) make it very hard for people to obtain metal, especially if it's something like black metal........oh!---> speaking of black metal, that's a genre that the further back you go and the more underground it is, the more difficult it becomes to obtain merch, but eh....I do my best! It's practically my top genre I have interest for.
Well...those are my thoughts.
I download "illegally" so I know what albums are worth buying (on cassette/CD/vinyl)... and which ones aren't.
Paying just to download MP3s to me is the equivalent of saying you pay to download porn.
It means you suck.
iTunes if anything I usualy try to avoid it though
Fuck Downloading! Every burned/copied cd i have, i have bought the actual cd of the band. But never downloaded!
I just buy vinyl
It's all very well to be against illegally downloading stuff that's still in print, but a great deal of my music is composed of old demos and albums I have next to no chance of getting otherwise. If anything I'd downloaded and enjoyed got rereleased, I would of course buy it - but, thinking about it, what does buying second-hand music give the artist? (That said, I do try to buy as many of my favourite OOP CDs as I can anyway - I like having the physical product.)
Don't get me wrong - I love CDs and my collection is growing steadily (46 bought so far this year, which is reasonably impressive considering that I'm a student), but downloading allows me to experience music that was hard to find before I was even born.
Er, I've completely gone off-topic now. I use iTunes occasionally if I want to check out a song or two that I enjoyed in a band's set, or if I somehow find out that an OOP album, like Gorguts' 'Obscura' is available there and want to be able to support the band a bit. I certainly wouldn't do it for full albums when I could buy an actual CD.
i never buy digital files. When I buy music its not about the music only. I also want a physical product to collect or as a keepsake. perhaps when im old it'll remind me of the fun times i had. but paying money for some computer files doesnt feel right for me.
but bear in mind i'm a pirate most of the time.
i only buy from amazonmp3 and only if there is no other way to get what i'm looking for or it is too expensive on disc.
i neva pay for downloaded music i dont have any respect for a copied cd neither if i like sumthing i will get an original copy not always new tho so there isnt any money going to the artist. its lyk on you tube when uploads get deleted for copywrite reasons dont they realise that its promotion for bands etc n ive discovered stuff on you tube and gone and bought sumthing buy that artist.
NO! because is better have a phisycal copy and later make an mp3 of that but anyway mp3 sucks because does not sounds good!
