Metal's original roots lie in some very bluesy Hard Rock. Nothing wrong with the Blues at all.

Yes, Without softer genres of music there would be no heavier ones, Also I have major soft spot for SRV he was a god.

Of course. My first concert was Muddy Waters when I was 4 years old, so I was pretty much raised on the blues.

I'd have to agree with lordofthemosh, in that 1.) of course & 2.) I was pretty much raised on the blues.

Some pretty metal shit about the blues that pretty much everyone who claims to be a fan of the blues will know:

- Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil.
- Lead Belly was imprisoned in 1918 for murder, got released early, then got arrested five days after being released for attempted murder.
- Lead Belly got his nickname in prison. Real last name is Ledbetter.

I've seen Buddy Guy twice live and he was a lot of fun. I saw him at the Keswick and the Scottish Wright Auditorium, both venues he walked around the room, and at the Scottish Wright Auditorium he sat on my friends lap and asked my friend if he played guitar.

I voted yes but I never listen to it, grew up hearing loads of blues and bluesy rock.
It definitely has its place in metal history

mickbynes's picture

Yes, but I listen to blues in small doses. I do like bluesy-heavy metal sounding bands like The Handsome Beasts.

Sure.

You know, we're probably gonna get a whole lot of slag for putting a blues part on a thrash album
(But we don't give a fuck)
But I mean, as far as I'm concerned, anyone who gives us a hard time can go fuck off
(Right)
'Cause after all, we're musicians and we can do whatever we want
(That's the shit, baby)
You don't have to listen if you don't want to hear it
(You know, guy's got a point)

I THINK THE BLUES IS THE REAL ORIGIN OF ROCK, REPRESSION, FIGHT FOR RIGHTS AGAINST AN OPPRESSOR SYSTEM, FREEDOM IN ALL FORMS, STRENGTH, SADNESS, HAPPINESS, DEATH... ALL THIS CONCEPTS ARE IN THE LETTERS OF THE REAL BLUES SONGS!!!
