You're assuming religion is inherently a bad thing.
If christianity or whatever religion helps people be at peace, or help somebody be nice to a stranger for a day, then it's not hurting anyone. Most of the people talking shit on religion don't have any clue what they're on about at all- I haven't been to church in a long time but my god, for 11 years I never felt "restricted" or "oppressed"- I'd still swear or drink or do whatever it is that all these active atheists seem to think religious people don't do.
The only time religion is oppressive is in extremist circumstances, or when it forces people to pay (ie Scientology).
Religions like Christianity, Catholicism, Zen Buddhism etc don't really hurt anyone, so I don't see why people should whine about it all the time. This anti-religious whining is just as annoying to me as I'm sure death metal vocals are to "regular" people. Sometimes I feel like the days when metal was more care-free (and I do note you mentioned that Satan was your symbol of freedom- which is perfectly fine) are gone, and more and more metalheads are uniting through hate, rather than passion for their music and ideals.
Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of distaste for oppressive/extremist religions, people who force their beliefs upon others (both religious and anti-religious), shitty music etc, but metalheads aren't really very masculine if they whine about harmless religions on the internet for 2 hours a day.
As always, this new round of Theology "lite" is cute to observe, although folks like David Hume already did all the intellectual heavy lifting 300 years ago on the matter of deity/creation.
I do think it's lamentable that in the popular sphere, a whiny, sarcastic documentary effort like 'Religulous' is the best vessel of reference that most atheists can point to, while the far superior 'Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed' contains a great deal more genuine philosophical debate and inquiry.
I don't feel strongly compelled either way, but it would be more gratifying to see docs like 'The God Who Wasn't There' get mainstream attention, rather than seeing mindless "atheist" sheep claiming fucking Bill Maher as any sort of respectable voice on the topic.
...and seriously...Venom is fantastic. Venom pretty much ruled my headphones in 9th grade - I just think this shirt design is a bit of a pandering to theme, is all :D
