I don't call myself a thrasher, i call myself a metalhead. I can listen to everything from Motley Crue and W.A.S.P. to Septic Flesh and Rotting Christ and from Saxon and Accept to Malevolent Ceeation and Lamb of God. As for my name is a combination of "Metal Thrashing Mad" of Anthrax (a song that i adore) and the fact that i'm a dad (father of 2 boys). Peace...

Metal = No Rules.
This is something that is preached on this site and others. This is the very foundation for metal in and of itself. Musical taste is objective. To limit yourself to only thrash, only death metal, only black metal is closed minded and foolish. To say that listening to Slipknot is wrong goes completely against the "no rules" ethic of metal. Don't forget that Slipknot was created by guys who played in thrash and death metal bands long before there was a Slipknot.
My opinion on music is that if it kicks my ass, it's fair game. If it doesn't, that doesn't make it bad. Just because I don't like something doesn't make it invalid.
Personally, I listen to and support what I want to listen to and support. NOT what I think people will think I'm cool for listening to and supporting. I could not care less about what people think of my musical tastes (or lack thereof, in some opinions).
In other words, leave the guy alone.
