Awesome! I just listened to the album today for the first time, sounds great in my ears (though I totally understand people hating it).
I suppose it's because I had such high expectations for it. I thought "The Cult is Alive" was a fuckin' sweet release, and then I was a little disappointed when I heard "F.O.A.D." I've kept it around and I pop it in my cd player every now and then to see if I might change my mind about it but to no avail. I just don't like it. I'm afraid to check out anything after that cd because of it. Are the new ones any good? As in, different from this one?
Well, so far I've heard only one newer song, "Hiking Metal Punks", which is a pretty fucked up song, but I like it. From what I read, they constantly went more old school and reduced the "classic" black metal more and more. Musically it doesn't have much to do anymore with the stuff from A Blaze... etc., what remains is mainly that they do what the want and don't care about anybody's opinion... Just read any review from a newer album and you will see (the reviewer will most likely either love it or hate it).
Yeah, I read that they were stepping away from the stuff they used to do. Which is cool, there are enough people out there trying to replicate that old Darkthrone sound anyway. A lot of those bands are a little more arrogant than they have the right to be too, lol. I suppose I should just suck it up and check the new stuff out. This was really their only release that I was unhappy with. I just hope it stays that way, haha.
