Share some of your favorite Japanese metal.

Terra Rosa, Sabbat, Metalucifer, Prowler, Hellen, Precious, Rommel, Crowley, Blaze, Vanishing Point, Volfeed, and Sabbrabells are just some of my favorite Japanese metal bands. I also love the first X Japan album.

I also really like Sabbat, Metalucifer, Abigail and Barbatos, but I feel like those are already pretty well known.

I'm not really picky with Japanese Metal bands. I like the usual ones like Sabbat, GISM, Sigh, Abigail, Barbatos, etc. Other than that I vigorously collect the Visual Kei stuff like X-Japan, Dir en Grey, The Gazette, Kagerou, and a bunch of others.
Early on Dir en Grey was very typical Visual Kei as seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7v6HL_H3Qc
Recently they have a very Avant Garde kind of sound with some Progressive and Death Metal tendencies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGW4b28wF80
This is my favorite song by The Gazette: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnoFM9JR1LU

None will ever top the insanity of this band. Other excellent Japanese acts:

Shikabane
Assault
324
Mortalized

Those will probably only appeal to grindcore/death metal fans, though. For noisy rock'n'roll, there's Guitar Wolf and High Rise.

Intestine Baalism are a great Melodic Death Metal band from Japan. If no one has heard of them i suggest you give them a listen, especially the album Banquet In The Darkness. A great album.

Flower Travellin' Band https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L801uilwGPM (psychedelic proto-metal)

Those three are my go-to answers, though I also love Sabbat, Metalucifer, Gotsu Totsu Kotsu, and a lot of others (Japan has a great underground scene.)

Thanks. I used to play in Darkcorpse! The Honjoh Misako album '13th' is an amazing slab of traditional heavy metal. Arrangements by Akira Takasaki. Birth Ritual are an incredible band from Hokkaido. Brob, Sobbed and SU19B are amazing grindcore bands. Nepenthes features members of Church Of Misery and are producing some really heavy tunes now.

That's right. Kraahl/ Rich Dc's singer was moved back to the states hence we had to lay it to bed. We are hoping to get Birth Ritual down to Tokyo for a concert.
