This is the kind of diligence needed to avoid rip offs. Even then, there is never a guarantee. All that can been done is minimization through good practices. People have to get used to the possibility that they could be ripped off. The way people get screwed is by saying to them selves, "I can trust this guy for X reasons." That is why they are called cons. It's a confidence scam.
