Hey everyone at Tshirtslayer!
I want to get into more Doom Metal bands.
Anything from Traditional to Funeral to Sludge to Stoner Rock.

I want some like underrated stuff!

so far I have:
Acid Bath, Agalloch, Anathema, Asphyx, Black Sabbath, Burning Witch, Candlemass, Cathedral, Confessor, Corrosion Of Conformity, Crowbar, Dantesco, Death SS, Disembowelment, Doomsword, Dream Death, Earth, Electric Wizard, Eyehategod, Fu Manchu, Funeral, The Gates Of Slumber, Goatsnake, Grand Magus, Graveyard, High On Fire, Hour Of 13, Katatonia, Kyuss, My Dying Bride, The Obsessed, Pagan Altar, Paradise Lost, Paul Chain, Penance, Pentagram, Reverend Bizarre, Saint Vitus, Sleep, Solitude Aeturnus, Sunn 0))) & Boris, The Sword ,Thergothon, Triptykon, Trouble, Truckfighters, Warhorse, Winter, Witch, Witchcraft, and my all time favorite Witchfinder General!

If anything at least I hope to turn you guys onto one band you never heard from my list :)

Skunkspritz

Good stuff, reminded me of early Katatonia

ShieldbitersValhalla

My favorite one: Thorr's Hammer.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYWGiNLbmhs

Skunkspritz

Haha I always thought this band was another Black Metal knock off xD I dig it!

ShieldbitersValhalla

Well there is/was a black metal band called Thor's Hammer but it's not the doom band *Thorr's* Hammer. I am not sure how many bands have similar names.

wehavearrived49

Goat Horn
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2i_Z24p2uw

Acid Witch (doom/death with an old school vibe)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWY2bwLgWgs

Skunkspritz

That Goat Horn video was wicked sick! :D

eddiethehead666

acid witch rules!

thrashbabe85

Try Seasons of the Wolf, very underrated band. Tho I'm not sure if they are actually true doom metal, more like power/traditional metal.

Skunkspritz

This stuff was still good though:)

BeheadingN
Skunkspritz

Wow o.o I kinda enjoyed that...

Seany Genovese

Officium Triste, Coffins, Bongzilla, Dead Languages and YOB

Maddolis

You absolutely need to listen to Amorphis' 'Tales from the Thousand Lakes' if you haven't already. One of the greatest death/doom albums ever, very influential too.
You also need to listen to Saturnus, more top-notch death/doom. Any of their three full-lengths should do the trick.
A local death/doom band, Okera, have a sweet 3-track demo available off their myspace for free.

Skunkspritz

Saturnus was pretty sweet! Thanks :)

Wargod51

There is new dOOm metal band from Indiana called Stone Magnum and I've heard some of the demo's and rough mixes and it sounds great. Thery should have their debut cd out this summer or early fall.

southerncrossripper

JUANTHRASH

fuck yeah!

eddiethehead666

solitude, worship, esoteric are pretty good

BruteAxe2011

I love Warhorse, but you are already into them. Three more that I love are Paramaecium, Coffins, and Count Raven!

ShieldbitersValhalla

Paramaecium is so good! I have the "Within the Ancient Forest" album as well as the book it was based on. So great.

BruteAxe2011

They are definitely incredible. I have the original pressing of "Exhumed of the Earth". The odd timed drum track on "Untombed" is just sick! Simple as can be, but definitely unusual. Jayson Sherlock is a beast!

Goddes of Desire

Here's some doom for ya ;)
Druid Lord
http://youtu.be/zir2Hy61YYc
Hooded menace
http://youtu.be/HzEOj0yiCg8
Wooden Stake
http://youtu.be/k2__fo-Xerc
And one of my favourites: Empyrium
http://youtu.be/qDCbrtJ2xE4

ShieldbitersValhalla

Holy crap, Wooden Stake is good! I like that Empyrium song too.

Maddolis

+1 to Empyrium

Skunkspritz

I won't lie, right now..I'm too lazy to read what's been mentioned...but hopefully these haven't been suggested yet.
I tend to gravitate towards doom/death, but I like traditional stuff as well.I thought I would suggest a few(relatively) new doom bands:

Hooded Menace(Finland)
Type: bit of a good ol death doom combo!
Albums of Importance: "Fulfill the Curse" & "Never Cross the Dead"

Verdict:Sort of like a more morbid heavy version of Tägtgren vocals. There's an overall doom approach to their music tempo, but they mix it up with some ominous riffs and some faster death metal rhythms. The lyrics primarily revolve around cinematic horror and themes of the like, including a lot of gore. It's fair to say their lyric writing is probably needing a bit of improvement, but there is a really crushing force behind this bands progression and I would easily say that "Never Cross the Dead" was one of my favorite albums of 2010.

Ahab(Germany)
Type: Well..I'd say a common funeral doom sound, with some nautical themes.
Albums of Importance: Well, they have several full lengths, but their best easily goes to "The Call of the Wretched Sea", another is "The Divinity of Oceans"

Verdict:Their music truly puts you in the eye of the storm. You can imagine dark stormy skies heavy with rain above, wind whipped white crested waves and then quickly be sucked into the chaos of earths sea and the suffocating reality of imminent death. The vocals are typical of a lot of doom, but sound very tortured and there is some great flux of pitch. Overall I would say this band is definitely worth checking out.

ErichZann

Go to Eyes Like Snow, the doom offshoot of Northern Silence Productions. I love this label.

enghell

DevilzForce

Skunkspritz

Completely agree with you, after they realized that only 8 people had shown up for the gig, the Bass-Player grabed a whole beer crate and said that we had to drink it while they are playing. After the gig we had a couple of beers and a lot of Pfeffi (peppermint schnaps).

Yeah they're a great band. Never really was in the same circles as them though. They always were closer to the punk/crust circles than the metal ones. How's the local metal scene now? Anything going on?
