Ever dealt with assholes that think what you wear is "fashion" when it's really the aesthetic?

I don't know, I'm trying to think back to remember such an incident when I'm sure I had to deal with dumbasses like those, but it's hard for me to remember problems that deal with this "issue" because I'm someone that tends to tune out morons, and also small problems of this nature.

It's something I try to do because if I payed attention to every small problem and took what people say about me or my looks too seriously I would probably go fucking insane. I live in a big city, and it's rare the times that I don't get strange looks when I go out, or get yelled at by some passing car or something. I looked even weirder in high school and I got a lot of shit then, so I guess I just learned to tune things out, or else I'd risk going to prison for killing someone over rage or something.

All I can say regarding this is that I don't let "fashion" influence me in the least bit, the same goes for the other side of the spectrum... the radical stupidity of TRYING so hard to look strange so that you don't fit in anywhere. If I dress strange or look strange, believe me I am not trying to be, I just am. So if I like something, I don't pay attention to what's in style or not, I just wear it because I am an individual.

Well personally, I do my best to give no fucks ever.

But this one time, this guy I knew said "Why do you dress like that?". I'll save you the details, but he was just being a prick and probably just wanted to see my response( but I didn't let him get to me :P). That's all bullies ever want, just a response.

and another thing. I wouldn't call a battle veest, jeans,black shirts,and shoes"fashion". Either way, what you wear is your decision

technically there is a metal "fashion" with trends and so on.
Like the huge retro-thrash fad, and so on...
but anyway...
why dont you guys just stay away from idiots like that?

In my school years, a few people would ask me why I always wore black. To which I would respond "what the fuck is it to you?".

these days i try to ignore even thinking about it, i know for metal, that people who arent into it, will just move on in a few years, it's fashion for them now.. but later.. eh :D

I tell others who attempt to criticize how i dress to screw themselves. Allthough once some hipster fag told me that he and his friends once made a vest and ever since they did it metalheads stole their idea of a battlejacket. Lol @ hipster dumbasses

Unfortunately, studded leather jackets and punk/metal looking clothing seems to be the "thing" right now. like that Toxic Vision cunt who puts a Morbid Angel patch on a studded leather jacket and sells it for over $500. this is why I'm more irritated than flattered when someone who obviously has no clue who Venom is compliments my vest.

You know what doesn't go out of style?
The looks of shock or terror on old ladies faces when I pull up next to them at traffic lights. Sometimes they lock their doors.

I prefer to be left alone by the general public. If they came up to me, it's likely the conversation would be awkward and will end shortly anyway. Being an old fuck and not in school, or other such environment of forced socialization, I have an easier time ignoring people.
I couldn't care less about what my clothing makes people think or say.

As a high school student I get shit all the time.

I look like blonde & tubby Joey Ramone and people constantly ask what style I'm supposed to be presenting. Goddamit, I present my self!

All I ever get is hood/ghetto kids telling me that my shirts are "fresh" but I highly doubt they know its a band and just dig the art work, they're never assholes about it though.

some guy asked me if i was in a gang cause he saw me talking with other metalheads wearing their vests too. also cops have asked me if i was in a gang cause of my jacket.

I usually don't care. Although that the battlejacket became a fashion item really bugs me. Hipsters walking around with vests covered with hello kitties, spongebobs, and patches of bands that either suck, or they really don't even know. Usually both. I'm having homicidal thoughts already.

I just recall that Daria episode "Trough a Lens Darkly", where Daria get contactlenses and starts to obsess over if she's a hypocrite for wearing them.
I feel the same about this. I don't buy my t-shirts to make a statement(fashion or other), if I se a nice shirt by a band I like. Of course I want it. And there is some degree of vanity there, but I see no harm in it. Even if my idea of dressing differs from most other peoples. I still wanna dress in a way that make me feel good looking.
It's hard to say this without sounding like a fasionvictim. But my reason for wearing band merch is of course because a love of the band. But also because it's a nice shirt.

I think if your white shoes and clothes overpower your music, your a Fashion poser,In that case it would be fashion because theres nothing for the shoes or shirts to represent about you, they are litterally Just clothes..... but if your a true metalhead,and you got songs and bands,and your a part of the scene....Then all those things (vest, white hi tops, bullet belts) are aesthetic because they are Representing your lifestyle.
