Night of the Living Ozzfest Kids

Last night was the opening night of Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare at the Odeum in Villa Park. There were 3 haunted houses and Rob was performing but due to circumstances, we didn't make it into the haunted houses and here's why...

So the doors were supposed to open at 7:00 but when we got there at 7:30, there were over 3,000 people wrapped around the Odeum. Turns out this was their first show in 15 years (the last one was Limp Bizkit) and they had no idea what they were doing. They didn't have everyone corralled in through their one entrance/exit until 8:00 when Rob was supposed to come on.

It wasn't until 8:30 that some DJ came on spinning Ozzy, Metallica, Rammstein, and other songs for the Ozzfest era crowd. Despite being booed, it turns out the DJ was really Rob with a mask and his hair tied back. After his DJ thing, Rob didn't come on until 9:30ish and went till about 11:00. It was an amazing show and Rob was great. I can't believe how old the Ozzfest crowd got in 15 years though! There was no moshing or crowd surfing at all haha.

Anyways, it was just as bad getting out as it was getting in if not worse. The venue itself is old, rundown, and the tiniest arena you'd ever see, but I didn't mind that. It was the fact that the Odeum staff was totally unprepared and understaffed. To get me back there it would have to be the resurrection of Ronnie James Dio which is a shame because it's a great little venue.
