you'll need to go over them with some form of waterproofing agent, especially at the seams. or water will seep in.

Don't worry, I perfectly cleaned them with glycerin soap, then greased them with Sopa grease (horse-riding trademark), and finally polished them with Sopa black polish. Ready for war.

I went to PartySan in 2010 and the weather was horrible most of the time. I was wearing white sneakers in 10 inches of shit for three days and when I came home I almost had jungle rot, haha! But when you drink beer by the gallon and the death metal is thundering over the field, then you just don't give a flying fuck anymore and have a great time regardless!
